Is there a kit to convert Scubapro Jet fins buckles to a quick release type fins?
I have a pr of Scubapro Jet fins. The buckles are corroded. I found replacement buckles and strap for them, but I would like to make them into a quick release type fin. Is there a kit to do that, or should I just buy another strap w/ buckle?

    • MrsSmitty says:

There isn’t a kit as far as I know for the Scubapro Jet Fins for quick release buckles as these fins are great “old school” style fins, so come with a very basic strap system which is replacable. You can however, upgrade to spring heel straps for these fins, easier to get on and off and don’t need adjusting – they only come in L/9-10, XL/11-12 sizes though. You can get these from your local Scubapro dealer. Other companies make cheaper versions that may work – ie – check out Trident. Other versions of the Scubapro Fins do come with quick release straps. Consider shopping with your local dive shop and give them your business – and they will give you their expertise, put the straps on for you, and with your business they can stay open to offer air fills, training, rentals, excursions and more for your diving enjoyment. Happy Diving,

Correct freestyle fin kick with scubapro jet fins?
I am training with the scubapro jet fin and feel as if I am kicking incorrectly. What is the proper way to kick with the scubapro jet fin when swimming freestyle or crawl swim?

    • scubabob says:

They’re a split fin. Just kick as you would not wearing fins at all. Your thrust is coming from the knee and below with that type of fin, not your thighs although they’re still moving as in a normal kick. If you normally use your thighs as the major source of your power, then going split will be a major change for you. I can’t use them personally, since that’s where most of my power comes from and how I kick. Straight blade type fins propel me better than splits because of that.

What regulator is best suited for my needs?
I’m an advanced certified scuba diver and i’m finally starting to buy the more expensive gear. I need a good quality durable regulator for recreational diving (130ft. Max) for use in fresh and salt water. I prefer the brands Scubapro or Aqua Lung . I have a price range between $400 and $600(CAN). Please tell me the model number and brand name of a regulator that meets this criteria and I will conduct further research. Thanks.

    • Scuba Kip says:

Looks like you are an experienced diver. Go to the scuba diving magazine website http://www.scubadiving.com. From the tabs select the gears, and then you will a selection for regulators. They provide excellent reviews for regulators, based on features, functions, durability, ease of use, type of construction, and of course price comparisons are part of the review as well. The brand names you prefer are definitely included there for comparison.

I think you will like the reviews and make your own choices, and just may be switch to a different brand name. Good luck, and happy diving.

Will it Stretch? Recently bought a Scubapro suit. It is a little snug in the shoulders.?
Will it stretch with wear? Does neoprene shrink or stretch?
Tried it out in the pool today… really keeps me warm enough without over heating. However, it does restrict my arm strokes a little.

    • Merideth S says:

you’ll just have to practice with it more and get use to it. if it is restraining your ability – dump it!
