How do you measure for a snorkel vest?
It seems as though there is only two sizes for snorkel vests-Child and Adult. What if I’m an adult but am tiny? I’m 5’3″ and 110 lbs. I’m looking for the jacket kind that zips, not the bib kind. My partner got one and it’s huge on me. Shouldn’t it fit closer, sort of like another layer of wet suit?

It is essentially a life vest– it doesn’t matter the size. Sounds like you would be a womens XS or S.

What age is best for snorkeling?
Were going on a cruise in a few months and have found a snorkeling excursion that we can do. I am looking more into it as they say any ages can snorkel as they provide the snorkeling vests. My children are 5 and 7 but don’t normally swim well unless they have life jackets on or near us. With a snorkeling vest (I don’t actually know what they are btw) will they be able to do this or would they still have problems/be to young to do so?

I would not want to depend on using the snorkels provided by the excursion company. They will be the cheap type and not the “waterproof” type. I’m not real great about the water and didn’t feel comfortable with snorkeling until I got one of those, as an adult. You might also want to look into whether you can get child-sized inflatable snorkel vests, to be sure that you have ones that fit them. Those, and the snorkels, are easy to pack.

You might want to ask your question at CruiseCritic.com. Click on “Boards”, then go to “Scuba & Snorkeling” and either browse for your topic or do a search or post your question. For the latter two, you need to join CC, but it’s free. You’ll find lots of info there on every aspect of cruising, from experienced cruisers.

      Have a great time.
